Images of 2014
This has been sitting in the tray to put out so now midway through January, like Glüwein/glögi it has mulled for the appropriate time. These are images to represent events during balanced throughout year, not limited to the best or my favorites.
January - Creaks, groans and wind sounds on the ice during a to Boulder. Dillon reservoir by Silverthorne, CO.
March/April - Butze Rapids trail in Prince Rupert, BC. It leads to this great tidal coastline full of rocks, shells, seaweed, interesting drift-trash and sea-like smells.
March/April - A series of campfires and food-prep in the receding winter.
March/April - I couldn't pass this one up. Co-traveler through Canada and Alaska. One morning I had my camera out already and was in just the right position to capture a sleepy wake-up.
June - Abnormally wet summer in the Alaskan interior allowed for a couple forays elsewhere. This was just one of the days showing snow that is normally gone by this time on a rainy, low-hanging cloud day. A fun place to get to up a winding jeep-trail of various conditions but the top has good access up glaciers to several mountains.
September - Dahl Sheep hunting in Wrangell-St. Elias preserve near Nabesna.
September - Scrambling up and down mountains daily to get to the right locations and scout for sheep.
September - Somewhat mild nights great for the aurora in Fairbanks. Roamed around several places to get clear views towards the north.
October - Haines, Bald Eagle Capital of the World. Mostly hampered by heavy coastal rains, autumn colors weren't bad and the eagles were still flying.
October - A hike in Briones looking at the dry hillsides to Mt. Diablo with some haze.
December - Helsinki. Dim days but nothing dim about the times including lighting and much of the architecture.
